Carley Downs, medical doctor with the Peace Corps and first daughter to the United States, has been mistakenly abducted by the Guatemalan drug cartel. Without knowing Carley’s true identity, the cartel believes someone in her medical team is in possession of sensitive information involving cartel activities. Matt and his team discover that the cartel has established an alliance with an Iranian terrorist organization. Time is quickly running out for Matt to snatch Carley from the cartel’s grasp before they deliver her into the hands of terrorists who will surely recognize the first daughter. Outmanned and outgunned, the rescue team find themselves locked into life or death struggles, first with the cartel, and later with the notoriously savage Iranian terrorist leader, Ahmad Hassam, as all three fight for the possession of Carley Downs.

Action Plus. This novel has lots of it. I am a reader who loves to become engaged in such a story. The characters are so alive and the dialogue is so filled with entertaining quips that it is easy to like them. I am sitting here writing this bereft of no more story to carry me away in the company of these people I have gotten invested in and wanting for more time with them. I am very pleased to see there is a sequel. I am strongly motivated to get my hands on it straight away. I don't need to speak so much of what the story is about because that has been done enough in the reviews here, but rather the great skill of the storyteller is terrific. Mr. Sparks has done an amazing job in this his first novel. I feel as if I learned a lot about aircraft and flying from this story. That was fun and so very authentic. I liked that part a lot and I could see there was a lot of research that went into the writing of it.Product details

I gave 5 stars because there was a wide variety of action and risk, I hope the sequel will be as good. GREAT READING to all age groups and I found this book a super read. Stay up late a few times because of good action.
God, country, honor. If you don't believe in these, you probably won't enjoy this book. But if you do believe, then you have just found a dandy of a book. Non-stop action tale about the rescue of the President's daughter and her fellow Peace Corps mates from the hands of kidnapper terrorists in the jungles of Guatemala. Follow the McWain cousins along with their Gov't accomplices as they make their way through back country roads with unknown enemies potentially awaiting around every corner. Never a dull moment, no story-stalling 'relationship' sidebars, just the constant nail-biting action of our unlikely team of heroes. Can't wait to read the sequel, Operation Firestorm!
It took me a while to finish this book; I just couldn't stay interested in it. Maybe it was too much description of the area, or how the airplanes worked, etc. I felt it was slow moving. Toward the end it was more interesting. I felt sorry for Chase; he didn't have much of a part in the story and Matt was a hero. There's a lot of violence, in case you don't like that.
I really enjoyed this book. Read it in two days. Lots of great action and good characters. Hope Chase gets more action in the next one. I appreciated the fact that there wasn't much foul language. Looking forward to the next book. Great job Carl! -)
The story is entertaining, fast-paced and written with interesting personal development in characters and storyline.
It was gritty, but cleanly written. No offensive language or scenes.
I would enjoy reading many more books written by this author.

I am only on page 30,but decided to give review. First off, you mention Our Father in Heaven in your acknowledgements, then one of the characters is from Missouri( we live in IL about an hour from St. Louis) AND you talk about Texas Road house! Actually, we were at Texas Road house in Kirkwood, Missouri( suburb of ST. Louis)today when I started reading this book!! I totally love reading books that have combinations such as all of these mentioned. The story so far is exciting and it is obvious we are in for a bumpy ride. Can't wait to finish it. God bless you🌟
